On November 18, Chen Liangxian, vice governor of Guangdong Province, led a team to Shenzhen to investigate e-cigarettes, campus food safety and smart market regulation.
He stressed the need to further improve the relevant standards of the electronic cigarette industry, explore the “Internet + regulation” mode, standardize the development of the industry, strengthen the regulation of the school canteen, adhere to the daily sampling inspection of raw materials, establish a social co governance mechanism, and continue to deepen the reform of the commercial system, enhance the level of smart market regualtion, and constantly optimize the business environment.
In terms of the above research, the electronic cigarette industry committee recommended two member enterprises, one for the vape manufacturer and one for the vape juice manufacturer. During the internal investigation of the enterprise, Vice Governor Chen Liangxian inquired about the operation and difficulties of the enterprise in detail, listened to the suggestions and demands of the enterprise, and reflected the government’s support and concern for the private enterprise.
Since the birth of e-cigarette industry more than ten years ago, Shenzhen has an unparalleled supply chain advantage and innovation vitality, and has become a global e-cigarette manufacturing center. Its products are sold to more than 30 countries around the world, 90% of which are exports, of which the United States is the largest export destination, accounting for more than 50%. The e-cigarette industry directly provides more than 500000 employment opportunities, and more than one hundred related supply chains drive more than 2 million people’s employment. Each year, vape exports generate nearly 30 billion yuan of foreign exchange, with a compound annual growth rate of 26%.
As a new industry, e-cigarette is not only a real economy, but also a new economic growth point. At present, it is necessary to take a comprehensive and objective view of e-cigarette as a sunrise industry. It is not only necessary to issue regulatory policies in terms of public health, product quality and safety, and protection of minors as soon as possible, but also necessary to conduct a comprehensive and scientific assessment in terms of export earnings, employment and economic contribution, so as to make China’s e-cigarette industry develops in a healthy and orderly manner and continues to maintain its leading position in the world.
