JUUL

JUUL is off-shelf after being sold in China for only one week on the eCommerce platforms

On September 19, it was learned that JUUL electronic cigarettes, the US electronic cigarette giant, had been suspended from sale in China after only one week. At present, it has been off the shelves on Tmall and JD mall e-commerce platforms, and no flagship store information can be found through searching.

Previously, JUUL was rumored to enter China in mid-September, and will go online at the same time on JD mall and Tmall. It has begun preparations for the Double Eleventh shopping festival. Although it has only been on the shelves for a short week, some consumers have placed orders and received the products.

At present, through the search of JUUL by Tmall and JD mall, its flagship store pages can not be found, but there are still third-party stores selling JUUL-related products.

JUUL responded in a statement, “Although JUUL e-cigarettes are currently off the shelf in China’s e-commerce platforms, we look forward to continuing our dialogue with relevant parties so that our products can be put on the shelf again. We remain committed to providing viable and alternative e-cigarettes for over 300 million adult smokers in China.”

JUUL is going through a tough and dark time. Last week, the U.S. government said it plans to ban the sale of flavored electronic cigarettes across the board, while New York and Michigan have enacted their own new regulations on electronic cigarettes.
