Juul plans to cut 500 jobs by the end of the year

Juul labs announced on Monday that it will cut jobs in order to scale up its business.

By the end of last year, Juul had about 1500 employees, and this year it expanded its enrollment at an average rate of 300 per month. “In order to scale up the business, the number of employees will be reduced between now and the end of the year,” Juul said.

Juul labs would not disclose the expected number of layoffs, saying that the layoffs will involve various business departments, but the recruitment of specific departments of the company will not stop. According to the Wall Street Journal, the company plans to cut about 500 jobs.

K.C. crosswaite, Juul’s chief executive, said in a statement: “as the category of e-cigarettes undergoes the necessary re-engineering, this restructuring will help Juul focus on reducing underage use, investing in research and creating new technologies, while obtaining operating licenses in the United States and around the world.”
